Interesting observations. I’ll be honest and say I certainly have never experienced anything like Desiro says in the 20 years I’ve been flying. And I also disagree with the ‘Brexit’ sentiments.

Me either in my 25 years short haul, long haul, short haul. May have been more common in the older generation who were retiring when i started but not been a part of my (Big) airline career.

Consider yourselves lucky. It was rife amongst the crew at the flag carrier I worked at and a reason I wouldn’t step back into aviation again. The joy of the job was sucked dry by the attitudes I worked with, and the blindness to it to be honest.

I should say I’ve never experienced blatant racism on the flight deck, my experience has been more low level ignorance from a very small minority of usually tired and fed up Captains. In my experience it’s been the odd comment about the nasty EU and things of that nature and nothing more sinister. Obviously I change the subject quite quickly if it ever comes up and much prefer to talk sports or other such common interest fields on those longer sectors. But the pro-Brexit sentiment has been quite obvious at my operator and it’s just an observation of mine that I find bizarre given the consequences it’s had on us and ours.
