Train driving playlists?

Hail All!
Putting aside the fact that mobile phones, MP3 players and similar devices are normally banned from train cabs; If ye were allowed to take an MP3 player into the cab when driving your train, what would ye have on it, and what tracks would be used for different driving conditions? 8)

Here's my own list to start, that might work well as an example:

• BAL-SAGOTH - A Black Moon Broods Over Lemuria, The Power Cosmic and Atlantis Ascendant:
  Would ensure some seriously gut-wrenching accelleration out of Euston - Irrespective of whether I'd be driving a Pendo or a Pacer at the time! 8)
  .
• Blind Guardian - Imaginations From the Other Side:
  A very nice and steadily paced album ideal for general driving, which would settle me down to a comfortable, relaxed average of about 550mph.
  .
• Finntroll - Jaktens Tid and Ur Jordens Diup;
  Moonsorrow - Suden Uni, Kivenkantaja and Verisäkeet:
  A few nice, Finnish Black Metal albums that would encourage me to get a move-on if need be. The downside to this would probabally be my strong temptation to pass over any form of junction (Diverging route or otherwise) at over 700mph whilst listening to it!
  .
• Necrophobic - Bloodhymns:
  Probabally the be(a)st album in my collection for encouraging some seriously extreme high-speed operation and no decelleration for anything whatsoever. If my train was running two hours late out of Birmingham NS, this would get me to Glasgow about fifteen minutes ahead of the original schedule...Though the extreme G-forces incurred would probabally crush all of the passengers on board in the most horrific, gory, Bloodthirsty way... hock:

Indeed, a classy song, his story telling songs before he made it famous with "The Lady in Red" were superb.

Long Train Runnin by the Doobie Brothers,

White Room by Cream which the verse featuring the "Restless Diesels" at the station is soooooooo cool.

and

No Leaf Clover by Metallica which has the classic line in the chorus "When it seems to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, is just a Freght train comming your way!"

Good to see a lot of Rock and Metal coming up here! 8)
I must confess that there are also several 80's and a few Dance/Trance tracks that I would also add to my list (Mainly for inner-city MU driving) if I could remember their names, but I digress... hock:

Incidentally...I am now rather curious as to exactly why audio players are forbidden in train cabs? I can well understand that having music in both ears would be a clear breach of safe operation (As ye'd not hear thy AWS alarms etc.), but surely it'd still be safe to drive most trains - I.E: A Pendo at full 150mph top speed - Provided that ye only had an earphone in one ear, or were using speakers and an appropriate volume to ensure that ye could still hear the CSR, AWS and other cab-mounted equipment clearly over thy music? :?

Admittedly I have no real-life train driving experience whatsoever...But personally I feel that my driving would be much faster, more efficient, and indeed more safer with some BAL-SAGOTH or Necrophobic playing in the background... 8)

Good to see that my somewhat extreme view on how the railways should be operated is having the desired effect!

Seriously though...If I was driving a train and the speed limit was 100mph, I'd be doing no more than 100mph, and only then if I believed it was safe to proceed at that speed. Though I have the strong belief that our railways could (And should) go a lot faster than they do at the moment, I wouldn't let those same beliefs cause me to operate a train outside posted limits. 8)
