No idea, but the locations seem to be along the FCC GN route.

Anyway, £9 per hour for qualified drivers? Isn't that very low?

£9 per hour is shockingly bad for a drivers position, trainee or otherwise!

Assuming 40 hrs per week x52, that equates to roughly 19K pa basic.

The links are showing as an error now.

Does anyone know what company or depots they were for?

I suspect that, with various companies having laid drivers off in the past year, the days of qualified drivers being in high demand and therefore commanding a high salary, could be over.

The links never worked, but if you post the job references onto Directgov then they are still there.

Also is there such a thing as "a train driver licence?" I'm sure there must be something but I've never heard that terminology before.

Someone set them up as a joke?

They must have done as I know full well that Hertford, Stevenage, Welwyn don't have Shunt Drivers, the only location on the GN that has them is Hornsey, all other locations use mainline drivers to carry out any shunting.

In fact, I might well print some off just to give some colleagues the much needed relief that we need,

I mean the only shunting that takes place at Hertford is three arrivals into the Up Yard and then three departures from the Up Yard which is only Monday to Friday anyway.

Stevenage is a though station anyway with no sidings or yards of it's own.

Welwyn uses mainline drivers to carry out any shunting in the down yard.

It looks a bit dodgy to me. I know that fake adverts have been submitted to Jobcentre Plus in the past (and accepted) for non existent jobs. All it would need is for someone to impersonate a genuine recruitment company with a similar email address.

 Where on earth do you get THAT nonsense from?

The only drivers that have been laid off anywhere were a few freight drivers, who have mostly been re-employed.

Those ads are rubbish, load of contrived crud.

There is no nationally issued 'licence' companies are left to issue their own licence/SCWID (safety critical work identification) cards. A drivers safety pack and certificate of competance are his/her licence to drive trains on Network Rail.

The adverts look like a wind up to me and people should be very wary of applying for those posts however tempting they may look.

With regards to a train operators licence, as driver9000 says I believe companies issue their own, but as to qualifications there is an NVQ Lever 2 in Rail Transport Operations (Train Driving)

There can be issues with false adverts posted to JCP. If anyone wants to try and follow these up and let me know what they get back they can be flagged for investigation.

The same agency has advertised these jobs on "Gumtree" with locations as Glasgow and Inverness!
