Many Northern employees in my neck of the woods have already passed psychometric testing during unsuccessful previous applications as have many of the contributors to this forum. This could be what WCML means

Yep got my unsuccessful email earlier. Feel i had my chance last year when I messed up the 2 hand coordination test - hadn't really realised about the speed element and focused too much on accuracy. Since then haven't got past the application stage. Must be loads of people with test passes waiting on jobs. Wonder whether a last shot at the tests privately is worth a go - that way I would know one way or the other.

At application stage it doesn't matter if you passed the assessments previously or not. It's not being looked at or checked at this stage.

Thanks for the insight into that. I will work to improve the application then.

Just out of interest where do the applications forms end up for the initial decision on who to send to the DMI? Is it the recruiting driver manager or is there a recruitment team who handle this and put forward candidates?

Just abit of an update for everyone - I spoke to recruitment on Thursday, after they sent me an email earlier in the week stating my application had been progressed and to complete an online numerical assessment. They informed me they sent the email in error and that they were still sifting through the applications and would be in contact with everyone by the end of the week coming.

Am I the only one rejected outright so far then? That’s always a nice feeling [emoji56]

Don't want to burst any bubbles, but I think people should've found out by now. I found out a week or two ago (it was a no) and interviews are already booked in or happened... I'm internal and a load of my colleagues got rejected too.

Hope this helps.

I agree, you would have thought they would've been in touch with all by now but I expect there will have been a lot of applications to get through and it did state it may take a while to receive a response I suppose.

Hi all,

I’ve just came across this post so sorry I’m a bit late on with it. I applied for the Wigan Trainee position and heard nothing so I rang mid October and they said it was still with the recruitment team looking at business needs and sifting through applicants!

9th November I emailed recruitment team and got this response

“We are currently reviewing our recruitment needs for 2018 and we will a position to update you in the next few weeks.

As soon as we have an idea of numbers required for Y2017/325, Driver Wigan 2018 we will then be in a position to undertake a shortlisting exercise for interview.”

I take it that by this time then I haven’t got it but I haven’t had a NO officially.

Also can you apply for other stations within 45 min radius if they come up at the same time? So more than one application in at once to ideally boost up the chances!

Thanks
Jon H

No you cannot apply for another role while you still have a live application for another role. I also applied for the driver at Wigan, and like you, thought it was a no until I received the same email that you did.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Would you still class the Wigan position as live if they haven’t really gave any update in 3.5 months? It says on another forum from a guy who applied internally for the Wigan positions that there were only two positions and both have been filled with internal applicants so I wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to apply for another neighbouring station when I have no idea weather my application is still “live” I’ve had that same email twice now both stating a few weeks for a reply and thats only because I’ve mythered and asked, but now nothing and another month passes by.

Thanks
Jon

Yes it's still live until you get the yes or no. Besides you have to wait 6 months in between applications I believe? I feel the same frustrations because I would like to apply for the mcr role and feel like this Wigan role is going nowhere. I've just passed the psychometric tests that I booked privately so I wanted to somehow include that in my application. But I can't due to the application I submitted for Wigan. Hopefully something will come of the Wigan role, which would be great.

Just apply for Manchester mate you can explain your reasons afterwards if it crops up. Like no response for them and was an opportunity not to be missed.

Wow I diddnt know you could do the Psychometric tests privately. How do you go about that?

Thanks
Jon

I wouldnt recommend doing the tests privately.

The tests are the last bit of the recruitment, so why waste money having them done if you dont pass the DTM interview?

I’m glad I’ve applied for Manchester also now then. Very strange not to have any reply back I don’t know if I’ve done well on the application or not. Anyway same one has now been sent in again to Manchester. Going to ring them up Monday for a definite answer.
Was your friend applying from an internal position or external confidante?

Thanks
Jon
