Train Driver Medical?

Ive been trying to find out whether you can still pass the driver medical if you have got/had 'mild' IBS? The CAA allowed me to fly with it and its controlled by diet.

Also, i take HRT for men because my balls dont work.....although im sure that shouldnt be an issue. Im fit and healthy otherwise.

Any ideas? Neither of the conditions cause sudden blackouts, incapacity, imobility or seizures.

I'm sure IBS would be fine. IBS is very common these days.

In regard to your crown jewels, I'm sure that won't be an issue either. You don't need them to drive a train

I ask because the wording of the RGS document isnt very clear.

It says youre not allowed any medical conditions, or to be taking any medication likely to cause -

Blackouts
Sudden incapacity
Imobility etc



I read it to mean - youre not allowed any medical conditions.

But it could also mean - youre allowed medical conditions but not ones likely to cause blackouts, incapacity etc etc

A friend of mine who is a driver has IBS so that's not an issue. Does either of your conditions cause any if the problems you listed? If not then you have no need to worry. The medical appears to very strict but trust me (many more will agree) it isn't.

The condition is not an issue but the medication may be. Check out the medication as whether it will affect your ability to concentrate or could cause drowsieness. Read the side effects and if any of those 2 are on the side effects then you may have a problem.

No. The medication is tesosterone and doesnt cause those side affects. We've all got tesosterone in us naturally.
