Train Driver jobs Aberdeen

High everyone I was just wondering if anyone can give me information on train Driver jobs in the Aberdeen area.
I am a qualified train driver based in Cardiff but my partner has been offered a high payed job working in the oil industry in Aberdeen but I don't know what depots are in the area. I have experience of both passenger and freight trains.
Any information would be gratefully received.

Scotrail certainly have a Driver depot based in Aberdeen, but you missed the Vacancies there as they were out during the summer 2013 months if I remember correctly.

Although East Coast run there, I think those are Edinburgh based drivers. No idea about freight, although others on this forum may know.

I'm on hold for a assessment day currently for position of Trainee Train Driver, and personally if I had your experience there's no harm in sending a speculative email regarding your interest, as all they can do is say no, more than likely they will place you on hold, you probably knew that anyway but if not hope it helps

if I were you id get on the blower to Scotrail HR and approach them directly and ask the ? im sure they would be interested in talking to you

Hi Glynn, Scotrail quite often don't advertise their qualified drivers positions .They have them,but advertise them internally first. For internal transfers and promotions.I kept in touch with HR who asked me to apply for a depot. In the end I could not move and stayed at my current depot.. This job had not been advertised . I tried to send you a pm, but the system wouldn't allow it,as I had just joined.

Aberdeen is a good depot, with a variety of routes including Aberdeen - Inverness, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Fife circle etc. Dundee also has a traincrew depot but would be around an hour commute. A number of DBS qualified drivers joined Scotrail recently without advertisement so I would definitely put in an application for transfer. I believe there is more recruitment due soon but unsure of which locations. good luck.
