Train Dispatch Concentration Assesment- Would be grateful for any advice

Hi guys. I'm new to the forum and hope you won't mind me asking for a little advice.
I have recently applied for the posistion of Train Dispatcher at my local station, and, after passing the online tests, have been invited to Knolly's House for the assessment.
I am wondering if anybody could give me any useful information that would help me on the day. I genuinely want this more than I have wanted anything else in my life, and my dream is to work my way up to become a train driver.
I feel honoured to have been selected to attend the assessment centre, and now wish to give myself every chance possible to succeed on the day and go all the way.

Good to see you here, Welcome!

Just some basic advice I would give you is:

- Practice the assessment materials.
- Turn up to Knolly House on time and with all the required documents.
- Take pride in your appearance, and come dressed presentable (no trainers etc). It can be a long day so make sure whatever you wear, you are comfortable in. Polished shoes, ironed shirt always help!
- Make some sort of conversation with the company employees on the day. A 'good morning' with a smile and eye contact makes an impression.
- Do exactly as instructed by the assessor on the day. If you have any question AT ALL, do not be afraid to ask, no matter how silly you think you might sound in front of others.
- There is probably a concentration test on the day where you have to tick things off, with that make sure you work at a good pace but always as accurately as possible. When they tell you to turn the page, DO NOT keep working on the same page.

All in all good luck on the day. You seem to have the drive to succeed in your goal.

In the test, three sounds. Let's pretend it's a) A Whistle, b) a bell ringing, and c) an annoying bloke shouting 'all aboard'.

The first part of the recorded test plays around ten scenarios, with the above three sounds in various sequences. On the answer paper, you must only tick correct if all three are in the correct sequence (for a train to safely depart, in the scenario).

The second part is much the same, but with the three noises in the background, you are also required to answer a verbal question asked by the commuter. You must write the customer's answer down, but crucially, state whether the three noises were in the right or wrong order for the train to safely be despatched.

For the test you are doing, they usually also do the STVT (Station Tickets and Verbal Test), a straightforward read-the-passage and answer-the-question test.
