I was caught up in the disruption to WCML services last Thursday when the high winds resulted in a 50mph blanket speed restriction. I was on the heavily delayed 10:30 from Euston to Glasgow which left Euston at 11:20 and ran under the speed restriction to about Rugby losing further time. At Preston there was some confusion as at first it was announced that the train would be terminating there but this was quickly retracted and we ran right through to Glasgow. I was tracking the train on Traksy and I noticed that we when we resumed after a short delay waiting for a drive the 1S52 description had changed to 1Z66, and that other trains ahead of us were also running under a 1Zxx description. Any reason for this change??
