I was on one quite a few years ago where the front bogie of the loco derailed due to a broken spring approaching Wroxham, and we had to walk along the track to the station. Luckely it wasn't far, IIRC it was around the point where the mainline comes alongside. This seems a little more dramatic though, although newspapers do tend to overdramatise things.
