Not at all. Depends on exact circumstances.

I know one particular colleague who ended up with his train mounting Hornsey platform as he overran the buffer stops in the reversing siding quite spectacularly a few years back. He's still driving.
That's good to know. I was worried that it might be a 'heads have to roll' type of situation.

I take exception to the reference to my former Jarvis colleagues whether meant in jest or not. No One ever proved Jarvis staff did anything wrong at Potters Bar

Also very much agree with the above it is not fair to quote something that was never ever proved, considering all the people wandering around the infrastructure from various other companies without anyone knowing they are there.

Just 9 hours before reopening of the line is very impressive!

On Railroad Alaska the other week they put a derailed wagon back on track in around 40mins, and replaced a section of track in under an hour, so not that impressive really|;) Oh the power of television!

Have watched both series and I have to say that everything seems to be so contrived and choreographed.

And the shelling of the rail head that has happened in three different episodes (IIRC) would say to me that they need more ultrasonic testing! And the curve that had buckled after a minor earthquake... given that the formation looked like it was mostly dirt and pebbles, Im not surprised the track moved!

All in all, I was not exactly enthralled with the attitude to maintenance the programme portrays. Whether that is true in real life however...
