Have any Train Crew had to endure long (one hour plus) commutes or regularly face nightmare traffic to and from work? Perhaps you're frequently delayed on the train or you have to stand!

This may be more common in the London area

If so what coping strategies do you use to ensure you stay alert?

If the train is late the “coping strategy” is to ring up and say you’ll be late in! It’s only a problem if you’ve chanced your arm and are on a train that would have got you in after your book on time.

Generally my commute (by train, occasionally taxi) isn’t too bad, although I allow over an hour door to door as I hate rushing. I work with some people with ridiculous commutes, and I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s definitely more of a “thing” at central London depots.

My commute is around a one hour drive each way, which feels like a lot on very early or late turns. Been doing it for years though so I’m used to it now.
