Train crash in Spain

Good evening all,

There has been a train crash in Spain a couple of hours ago where one passenger has died and another 95 have been injured. Although the exact causes are still unknown, it appears one train has collided with the one stopped at a station . Sad news.

From a quick Google: lines involved are part of the Barcelona RENFE network, R4 and R12 to/from Manresa.

El Pais reports a head-on collision between a medium-distance train (R-12) and a local one (R-4). The driver of one, a 26-year-old woman, has died and there are around 100 injured.

Collision was on a double track section, with the R-12 Barcelona-bound train on the track being used correctly by the outbound train, which appears to have braked on seeing the inbound train .
Suggestions of a signalling fault.
The line was the scene of another fatal accident due to a landslide in November, as well as 2 other accidents in the last 10 years.

Sad to hear. I have noticed that Spain really seems to get a lot of railway crashes and accidents compared to other countries. They have now had ten major accidents within the last ten years. Their stock doesn't seem that well built either. Especially the Talgo stock seems to have had lots of accidents. I think Spain does really need to improve their railway safety.
