Happened Friday evening from P5 to P3 at Shrewsbury, with effectively two trainloads packed into a 3-car 175 (unusually) from Birmingham. Bowing to the inevitable, staff just opened the ticket barriers to let the tidal wave through. It is when its from P3 to P5. You wonder if someone had a bad day with passenger assistance requests and was looking for revenge
However my sympathies are limited. There were rather a lot of holidaymakers taking up space on what is normally a commuter-time train: screaming babies, vestibules blocked with luggage, people eating food, etc. Possibly due to a combination of the bank holiday weekend and that ticket sale that is currently being promoted. Given current stock shortages, it would be prudent to deter these types of passenger, at least in the short term.
