Train Advertising Livery

This one is a bit of fun.

What corporate sponsors would wou like to see have a train in their livery/logos?

My ones

Class 150 Sprinter in a Marathon(snickers) bar livery (looking like the wrapper)

After Eight themed HST, Green with a Gold pinstripe, morning services for 8:00 scheduled to leave at 8:01 (to be after eight)....maybe a free after eight for each passenger?

Class 142/4 Pacer - Painted as a bus, to show its heritaige, maybe stagecoach?

Class 156 - All emt ones painted in EMT mainline livery, as they would look so much better

I reckon the stack on an 03 would look just great as a pint of Guiness and a 20 could be disguised as a wardrobe for DFS.

Reckon there should be a Yorkie coloured HST, operating at 06:00 from York to London non-stop, and also departing London 17:30 back to York non-stop.

Ironically, nameplates (even slightly commercial in nature) attracted more interest in the past

Following on from the Ginsters Sprinter, other station retailers could be attracted to advertise
M&S Simply Food, Burger King, and WH Smith are some examples

However, would you really want the railway to go this way?
The travelling public have enough difficulty with the existing liveries, without a train turning up with a non-standard livery and confusing the matter even further

I think it would cheapen the railways in the UK if advertising all over was common (just look at bus side adverts) plus it looks hideous IMO.

It would be fitting for Northern units to advertise cleaning products, since the ironic spotter pictures would get a laugh a grotty 156 with an all-over spread for Febreze or Turtle wax, caked in dirt!

London Underground had a C Stock train in Yellow Pages livery for awhile, complete with matching seat moquette. I think the same train later received a "back the bid" scheme for the 2012 Olympics.

Northern seem to apply things to the side of their units relating to things they sponsor, or advertising the areas they serve. This is probably as close as the railways currently get to all-over advertising!

IIRC the majority of the former Wessex Trains local fleet carried advertising for local places and attractions.

SBB Re460s are commonly used as LogoTrains (similar to Logojets), it has since spread to the Narrow Gauge private operators (RhB seem to be going for it)

With Regard to Wessex. I believe the 150 advertising was paid, with each town/region/attraction paying about £1500 for the life of the repaint.

SWT had several 455s in all over advertisting liveries a few years ago; one was for the Royal British Legion ( all white with huge poppies across the doors ) later replaced by a different unit with brown replacing the white for obvious reasons.

There was a Golden Jubilee one.

One in all over red advertising some sort of wine.

And one for Legoland.

Glad you labelled those otherwise I would never be able to tell which on is which.

Personally I would quite like to see more adverts for scenic places to visit biased on the trains diagram.

Yes there is one in Chapelfield (shopping centre in Norwich) advertising livery

Just come back from Germany. So the only brand I can think of is 'Captain Condom' as featured in nearly every public toilet I had the misfortune to visit.

I can just see a Pendolino with cartoon condom character livery...

Northern still have wraps on many of theier 158/158 units. They seem to advertise places served by thier network, or tourist attactions served by thier netwrok such as the NRM.

There are a few pictures on my Flickr stream of a 156 in an NRM wrap taken recently at Newcastle Central.

Sounds like you admitting pacers are absolutely quality trains there.

Skoda's laughable reputation is long gone since their ownership by VAG. All skodas are essentially VWs underneath. A suitable build quality analogy for a pacer could be advertising indian bridges... So under-designed it buckled under its own weight!
