I am travelling on Train 5978 the 16:24 departure from Clermont Ferrand to Paris Bercy. The DB timetable shows the train as having a "bordrestaurant". What delicacies can I expect on board?
Agreed - Might have one of the ex Teoz catering trucks, but I'd definitely suggest snacks rather than any ideas of a restaurant - at best! Not a fan of the refurbs IC stock on that route myself, I'd look out for any unrefurbished Corails but should be a good storm with a 26000 at 125mph though and some of them are impressively load 14 or so...
The symbol on the timetable for the 'ex-Teoz' Reservation obligatory SNCF services is decoded as "Bar ou Vente Ambulante" so the service will be a bar car plus a trolley service. The Bar will be similar to all modern train bars ie sandwiches, pastries etc plus some heated up stuff such as croque monseiur.
My suggestion: buy before you travel. If you can't find a street Boulangerie before you leave Clermont, at the very least try and buy from the food to go stalls in the station.
The idea of Teoz was that it was fixed formation, as well as reservation obligatory. In theory both still apply despite the dilution of Teoz into the rest of Intercites so there ought to be the bar car in the fixed formation, whether it is open is another matter of course
