Trafford Park to Southampton freightliner

There is a working leaves Trafford park at about 1020am and has been a solid 66 working for years. Have seen a 70 on it now and again but was left flummoxed when it had a class 90 on it and since I have seen an 86 on it this week.

I am assuming the sparky only goes as far as Crewe, anyone know why the motive power has suddenly changed ?
