Traffic Manager - Transport for London

Hi all,

Has anyone applied for the Traffic Manager or Incident Response Manager position with transport for London ? I’ve got an interview next week. I saw the thread on here the first time it was advertised in 2017. Just wondering if anyone is still around to give an insight into the job, shift patterns, training etc.

Hi. I also have applied but haven't heard anything back yet. When did you apply and when did you get a response regarding an interview? I believe this particular campaign didn't have a SJT and was based solely on CV submission. Wish you luck.

Yes I haven’t done an SJT and they emailed me about the interview yesterday. I applied pretty much on the day the job was advertised around 3 weeks ago.

Right. They must be sifting applications then. Since there wasn't much internal interest due to the low profile of the campaign. Good luck with your interview and be sure to let me know how it goes.

I'm not a traffic manager myself (as I said, I did apply for it as well but still awaiting a response) but I do know someone that is. From what he said, due to it being a fairly new grade within TFL, the initial roster is quite bad hence why they are doing another campaign to bring in more staff.

You will do nights and weekends as part of the roster which will net you extra unsocial payments in addition to your base pay of course. Not sure if you are familiar with signaller roles? But this is pretty similar to a signaller role but with TFL and operating on the Elizabeth line. You also operate the traction current to some degree so will be responsible for switching it off when there is an incident.

Hey thanks for that info. I must have done something right because I was offered an interview. It should have been today so good luck to all going. I withdrew my application after realising that the commute just isn’t realistic to Romford from my address. Maybe I’ll regret that in the future.
