Thales has a pedigree in the delivery of Traffic Management Systems (TMS) in mainline rail, metro and aviation environments globally. Thales’s TMS product ARAMIS is already operational with 11 different customers and manages over 50,000 trains per day in a mixed traffic environment. The modular system is in use on a national basis in Austria and Germany, and is also in operation in countries including Portugal and Israel.
“Traffic management systems can transform railway operations by increasing capacity, reducing delays, and keeping staff and passengers better informed,” said Alistair McPhee, Vice President of Transportation Systems at Thales UK. “As both passenger and freight traffic increases on the network the new system will offer timely improvements that meet the complex requirements of Britain’s rail network for many years.
