Evening all
,
Did any other members have the pleasure of being around Temple Meads this afternoon to see the 'Special? I was fortunate enough to be working and in the area, and stood over on platform 5 it was something of a 'timewarp' moment (although not historically accurate of course
), as we had a double-header hauled by Oliver Cromwell and 45385 roll into platform 3, with it's relieving loco 47500 sat chugging away on the loco spur. And in the background, to complete the classic loco action, NR had helpfully stabled a test train complete with two of their 31's on the leading end. And to finish it all off, a glance over the other side of the station revealed another rake of charter stock sat on the Down Through!
Altogether a very enjoyable few minutes, particularly when the kettles steamed away for Barton Hill perfectly synchronised with the 47 roaring off the spur at the same time, and the combo dissapeared towards Bristol West Jcn side by side. The 47 then returned to take over on the coaching stock and provided a lovely sight, clagging slightly as it departed. Happy times
