Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place.
The TBC (deadmans) where I work is a ball. You can imagine how uncomfortable - even painful - this is after a few hours.
One colleague fashioned his own to fit over the top. Others wear a glove.
Wondered if anyone had any ideas.
Thanks.

Deadmans on UK mainline traction is a foot pedal which I don't find uncomfortable.

We need more details.

TBC isn't a 'deadmans' on stuff I sign so I can't help you there! Ideas about what? I would take caution when fashioning your own methods of operating the TBC! Gloves are sensible but anything else to 'go over the top' to aid its operation is treading on thin ice!

I assume it is not something that would prevent the handle from operating.
I assume its merely a grip that slides over it to make it more comfortable to hold.

I suspect that the OP is a tram driver going by their description. This would entail depressing the TBC and then using it as a fore/aft lever to control acceleration/braking. I've heard about tube drivers that wear gloves when driving to make it more comfortable. Perhaps the OP could raise the issue with their union, and get their employer to carry out some form of ergonomic analysis of the controller. I'd imagine that it could easily be replaced at some point, or a temporary fix applied.

Ahh thanks for adding some possible context! That makes more sense! :D

Somewhere, not in London
There are only two stocks left on LU with such a TBC one Pneumatic and one Electrical, and I suspect anything to overcome the mechanical effort required to operate the Deadman or hold it in position would not be looked upon favorably.

HSTEd you're right. It is only to relieve the pain.
Domh245 good advice, thanks. I'll speak to the union.
