Hi all,

i am having a problem whilst building my southern route, and whilst building a tunnel i could not get the track texture to go dark.
This is the line typed out:

10500,
.Freeobj 0;28,
.wall 0;0;3,
.railtype 0;4, : this is the dark track object

can anyone help?

you need to make sure you have declared the dark rail object in the .rail section of the file. also was that a comment after the line? if so it needs a semi colon ; rather than the : you have there. this can cause commands not to work.

Some developers find it easier to simply add a dark, transparent texture to the bottom of the tunnel or bridge object, placed so that it is above the ballast/sleepers, but below the top of the rail... here's a bridge example...

bridge.bmp

Then, you don't need to change track type (although you may wish to define one with a different run sound).

the rail object in question is in the rail index as i said in the last post.
i have used this track object in another tunnel and worked fine.

i've copied this code from the tunnel that works so it doesnt seem like a code error.

can't spot any problem with that code, assuming railtype 4 is a darkened rail object (worth double checking)

Try removing the code (together with any blank lines) and retyping just to be sure. Only other thing I can think of is that the distance 10500 appears somewhere else in the route file already; using a distance twice in this way can have unpredictable effects.

Do the wall and freeobject display correctly?
