Assuming the PSB to be an NX panel with Main Line running.
Boxes covering terminal stations (such as Manchester Picc and Euston)excluded.

I believe the longest is Motherwell, and the shortest used to be Willesden

If Leamington Spa was classed as a PSB I'd say that it must have been one of the shortist.

Good point !

It was however an SSI with a traditional panel interface rather than a traditional relay based PSB.

It does however demonstrate that such a simple question does have a number of qualifications.

I have taken PSB to mean the traditional PSB. I also worked on route as opposed to track miles.

Actually I have thought of a better short one.....Engine Shed Jct (Kentish Town) during 1979 to 1981 when it signalled the section between the former St Pauls Road Passenger/Good Jcts, and Carlton Road Jct, probably about 2 miles if that. It worked to St Pancras and West Hampstead.

I reckon my box covers about 10 track miles at the most. My down main I actually only control one signal in a 4 aspect area!

Could never work out why Leamington didnt get put into the WMSC when they re-did Tyseley to Leamington. There is also a small section out on a limb on the branch to Coventry that wasnt done as part of that or Cov resignalling.

Longest for an Absolute Block box,I would guess at the 'Little North Western' route between Settle Junction and Carnforth boxes at about 24 miles.
