On a recent little trip to London on Friday, just passed Saint Albans on MML, between Frogmore & London Colney. I noticed a track being layed on an area next to the M25 motorway. it was being joined up to the MML, now the only nearby line around there is the short branch line Saint Albans Abbey to Watford junction for local villages Park Street - How Wood - Bricket Wood - .Garston.

Is there a new service coming into action linking the West Midlands line and midlands mainline, making more use out of the Abbey Line which only runs an hourly service. bringing services from Watford to London St Pancras.

Sorry no photos or videos, but you know the Parkway 360 Connect...... its bombs along at speed.

This is a south facing connection for a new railfreight terminal, it then crosses under all 4 lines of the Midland Mainline with sidings on the west side ( down side) of the mainline.IMG_2116.jpeg

The terminal and tracks to it will be constructed before the new junction to mainline are installed

It could come in handy as a diversion line, should there be maintenance issue between Watford Junction and Euston.
London NorthWestern could nip down here to St Pancras. (if electrified)

If you go back in time, a link between Napsbury and Park Street did exist. Used to bring in building materials from the St Albans Abbey Branch towards the MML part of the bridge still exists on Watling street just North of the aptly named “ Branch Road” in Park street, not opened for passenger use though , more a long siding .
