Does anyone yet know for sure which routes lime street tpe depot drive / will be driving in future?

Not 100% but I think TPE drivers go to Scarborough, but often its York they stop off at for a break. The drivers can then continue on to Scarborough or go to Manchester Airport.

I believe the future holds routes to Nottingham and Sheffield with Scarborough being dropped.

Is that Scarborough being dropped from Transpennine all way across the board and being driven by Northern crews or simply that Liverpool depots will not sign for the York to Scarborough stretch?

That is correct, via Cheshire lines for the Scarborough trains and via Chat Moss for the Newcastle trains which go as far as York and are then relieved by a Newcastle driver.

The Sheffield part will not be part of Liverpool's work as far as I am aware.

Found a really interesting link about the future of certain Transpennine services from the elventh item in the reference section of the Wikipedia page about TransPennine Express. The link is to a Government website page, titled, Future of Northern and TransPennine Express rail franchises.

I have read the entire document but there are plans afoot to split the East Anglia to Liverpool service, currently run by East Midlands Trains at Nottingham so that Transpennine run the service from Nottingham to Liverpool giving Transpennine all the express services from Sheffield to Manchester, I would imagine.

As regards the Scarborough to York line, there were different possibilities mentioned:

• Scarborough to York
• Scarborough to Leeds
• Extending the service between Blackpool and York to run as far as Scarborough
• Maintaining the status quo by running a service from Scarborough all way across the pennines under the wires.

There is a pie chart illustrating that most passengers from Scaroborugh go to either Leeds or York with a mere 2% travelling to Manchester.

Of course, these ideas are still in the planning stage and nothing is concrete yet as far as I can gather.
