Wondering what work the junior link covers and if there are many vacancies for the recent advert.

This is what York depot covers. Not sure which would be in the junior link, but it’s quite a varied work load

Does anyone happen to know what links are which? Like would new starters go into the 802 link?

There's no set starter link. I've known brand new drivers go in to either the 802 link or Redcar link.

Do you happen to know what it's down to? Do the drivers get a bit of a choice or is it just assigned at random?

In the case of trainees, it was down to what link their instructor was in.

For qualified drivers transferring in, I suspect it'll be down to what link has vacancies in.

The Redcar used to also sign 68 + Mk5a sets. Now they don't, I think most people prefer the 802 link, although everyone is different and each link will have its pros and cons different to each individual I suppose.

Yeah I can imagine! How do they do route learning? Like it seems like soo many routes haha. Is there a core section that gets learned first?

I can't answer that I'm afraid as I'm not, nor have I ever been a York driver. I was however at TPE as a driver until very recently at a different depot so know how the links work up there.

If your in the 802 link your core route will be York - Liverpool and thats what you'll be passed out over when you've done your hours with an instructor.

I think the 68 link core route is Saltburn - Manchester Airport.

Once your passed out and qualified you'll then start learning the other routes.
