Hi,

I am planning another trip up to The Scottish Highlands for a long weekend for bonfire night, traveling up on Friday 3rd November.

I have already booked tickets from Doncaster to Edinburgh via the VTEC site as they are already available but I am having problems booking the Grimsby to Doncaster tickets.

It says on National Rail that advance tickets for TPE services are available upto the 24th of November but when I try to book tickets via the TPE website, I enter all the necessary details but then it just defaults back to todays date and when I try and re-enter the date it does not go past the end of October.

I have tried a few other sites and the only one I have found that cheap tickets are available on is The Trainline, but I am loathe to use them because of the charges incurred.

Am I doing something wrong or is there an error with the TPE website.

I very much doubt TPE tickets are available for that date mate. I don't think they will be released till August/September

It appears that tickets are available through a few TOC booking engines - I just tried Virgin West Coast (which I think is powered by The trainline) and could see £5.50 advances for the chosen date.

Thanks a lot, just bought them from there. I did look at a few other TOC sites but the only one I could find selling them was The Trainline. I did look on the VTEC site but didn't think of looking on the West Coast site. I have a railcard which brings the price down to £3.65 so you can understand why I was reluctant to use The Trainline.

Cheers.
