Hi there, I recently watched a video by Leslie Gilpin which features TransPennine Express class 802218 coming into Carlisle station working 5Q12 which is from Malton Up Sidings to Heaton. However it reversed at Newcastle and came via the Tyne valley line and up the WCML to Edinburgh then back down to Heaton. Could this possibly be testing for the possibility of diverting TPE services when the ECML is shut like it has been the past two weekends. I went in the LNER ones recently and they were all very busy but the service was efficient. So maybe TPE is also considering it? Thanks in advance.

It's a TPE unit but it had a ROG crew so most likely a test move and to my knowledge there are no plans for TPE to operate in service via the Tyne Valley. It's not the first TPE 802 to travel over that route either.

What was it a test move for?
