TPE train cancelled tomorrow .. email received

Two of us are visiting Durham tomorrow, just a few minutes by train from Newcastle.

We had tickets booked on the TPE train, but I have just received an email stating that the train has been cancelled.

The message indicates that our ticket will be valid on LNER trains, two hours before or after our original departure time.

Travelling with LNER is no problem at all, but will I have to change tickets first at the Newcastle ticket office, or can we just get on the train

Just board the train. Be aware you will no longer have a reserved seat and will need to find a seat with a green or orange light that's not occupied.

You can reserve fresh seats on the LNER website or by visiting a ticket office should you so wish.

I thought I would ask anyway about needing to change my ticket but was told there was no need.

I commented that I would be getting the 10:58 KGX train and was told that would be OK.

Luckily, on the platform my mate heard that the 10:58 train didn't even stop at Durham, so that was a bit of luck, or we would have ended up in Darlington. Eventually got the 11:30 LNER train.

With the new display boards now indicating how busy each carriage is, it seems everybody now knows the 'coach c trick'

Thanks, but we bought the tickets in the recent TPE sale and only paid £2.20 each, so it seems a bit too cheeky trying to claim.
