TPE to Edinburgh

Just made a booking for the 10.16 from Manchester Piccadilly to Edinburgh on 21st October. Seat reservation is for Coach "F". I understood that the TPE Class 185's were all three car (Coaches "A" "B" and "C")? Does anyone know if this is a double six car working?

Also returning on the 18.52 on 23rd October with Virgin (via Wigan North Western) and the seat reservation suggests a Pendolino? Is this correct and does it run to Euston? I was unaware there was a Edinburgh - Euston service?

Any help appreciated.

Some workings run as 2 x 185 as far as Preston, where one of the portions divides, and then runs to Barrow or Windermere, hence there will be six cars, with Edinburgh being the rear portion.

Not sure about the TPE train, but yes Your.return train is an Extension Service 1852 normally runs to BHM but extended to EUS. This normally happens during summer months. A few.services run during.the week as well for.example.the 1343 normally a.BHM service runs.through to GLC via.Coventry booked as 10 car super voyager

I don't think it splits looking at the times. For Barrow it tells.you to change at Lancaster on.to.Northern. And windermere trains leaves at 1049. so maybe TPE running a six.car train to EDB

That is how the trains to Scotland tend to work on TPE. However I once went on TPE to Glasgow and there wasn't any coaches D,E,F. Just two lots of A,B,C. So people had to work out which section of the train they were supposed to be in and that A on the 2nd portion of the train was really D as on your seat reservation. Luckily it was a lightly loaded train and didn't cause too many problems.

The busiest Super Voyager diagram M-F on Birmingham-Scotland was switched to a Pendolino diagram a few weeks back to allow one Holyhead-London service to operate as a 10 car Voyager throughout. That's supposed to be a permanent change.

You sure? As of Sept 17th, the enhanced summer timetable ends, so we then have 1 extra pendolino, meaning the 1843 Euston - Crewe is now only worked by the Pretendolino on a Friday, and is a pendo M-Th

A new 125mph Pendolino train, which will enter service next week, has been formally handed over to Virgin Trains by train builder Alstom.

The new train has undergone extensive testing over the last few months and will now be used to boost capacity of the busy West Coast Main Line, where passenger numbers have doubled to over 28 million in the past six years alone – making it the fastest growing franchise.

Its use on the West Coast Main Line is a result of close co-operation between Virgin Trains and the Department for Transport.

The agreement means that the 439-seat train will run on Virgin Trains’ busiest routes, and enable more capacity to be provided on other routes.

The new train will allow additional seats to be provided on the busy Birmingham-Scotland and London-Glasgow routes, which have seen growth of more than 30% in the last two years.

It will provide 183 more seats than are currently available on the Super Voyagers that serve the Birmingham-Scotland route.

A five-carriage Super Voyager will then be transferred to services between London and North Wales, meaning that some of the busiest trains on the route will now have ten carriages.
