Were TPE having some problems this afternoon?

I was at Preston station and the 14.12 from Edinburgh, due Preston at 16.45 was shown as best part of an hour late, the following one, the 15.06 from Glasgow, due Preston at 17.46 was shown as cancelled.

That would have no effect on a train coming from Scotland

Northbound failure; southbound delay/cancellation................from either no stock or no crew...............

Wouldn't have any effect for crews coming from Scotland. Onwards South from Preston, yes.

TPE are 2 x 350/4 down currently. A 6 car 185 diagram has been de-strengthened to plug the gap while a 8 car 350 diagram is being run with 4 carriages.

Actually, it appears that the failed train ran to Edinburgh and back, returning around 50 mins late and capped at Manchester. The other TPE which was cancelled was possibly due to the fact it was following it. Why make such a presumptuous statement?

The ones which I saw yesterday were very well loaded so a cancelled train must have caused a hell of a crush on the others.

But how would the cancelled unit have been worked back?

Well it seems even the new TPE Scottish electrics are off to a very mixed start to say the least!

1000 Manchester Airport - Edinburgh developed a pantograph fault, delaying it considerably, leading to the 1416 Edinburgh - Manchester Airport to be delayed by around 40 minutes and subsequently terminated at Manchester Piccadilly.

Was that unit 405?
