One that I've wondered for a while (to the point I fear I may have asked it before, but can't remember the answer if I did!) but do TPE really stable a 185 overnight in Saltburn station on Saturday into Sunday?

1P89 arrives into Saltburn at 2257 on Saturday night. There's no ECS moves on RTT and then the next departure in on Sunday morning at 0853 when 1P66 departs towards York and points beyond. So does that unit really just sit in Saltburn station all night? It's not exactly a secure location! There's no staff presence (at all) and you can wander onto the platforms all night (no barriers or lockable entrances). Presumably the crew also must be put in a taxi from Saltburn back to York and then in the morning another crew back to Saltburn (as there's no way the same crew can stay with it overnight, the turn length would be far too long even if they booked on just before the departure from York (2139) the service doesn't get back until over twelve hours later (1013).

So does a unit really just sit in Saltburn for the entire night and a two quite lengthy taxis to and from York for the train crew? Surely running the unit and crew back in service (or even just empty!) and then to Saltburn in the morning would be easier and a better use of resources?

The cost of those taxis is almost certainly less than the cost of fuel/path back to a depot no?

The unit is fully shut down presumably no? So it’s not bothering locals.

I suppose but it just seems somewhat barmy to out stable a unit when the crew then get put in taxis back. I guess the revenue on offer is minimal and also wouldn't offset the costs but we don't normally let that stop us!

Sure but it's still not a very secure location to park a unit overnight. I'm surprised one hasn't come back tagged by now.
Certainly looks like it. According to RTT on 13/14 September the last arrival was operated by 185130 and the first departure was also operated by 185130.
It really does seem like it doesn't it?

I *believe* there is nowhere else for it to go (depot at York is full) and that TPE / somebody pays for security

Yes, unit sits there overnight.

Crew get taxi’d home on Saturday and taxi’d up early (~0630) Sunday morning to allow for cleaners to go through the unit pre-service

Partly that York Siemens is full on a Saturday night, also allows for a later last service to Saltburn on Saturdays, as the route shuts before it could get back down to York ECS
