TPE seat reservation - or not?

I don't know if anyone has mentioned the 'seat reservations' sometimes used on TPE. I saw these on the 1952 departure from Manchester Victoria to Newcastle last night.

All they say is 'This Seat My Be Reserved For All Or Part Of The Journey,' which doesn't seem to be very helpful and a source of potential conflict between passengers.

I've attached a couple of pictures (the one next to the extracts from the National Conditions of Carriage made me smile a bit!)

How enforceable would such a notice be, since they don't say which actual parts of the journey (if any) this could apply to?

How will the word "MAY" rather than "WILL" be construed in any subsequent conflict resolution.

TPE had a general failure of seat reservations yesterday (Friday). On both the trains I was on this was communicated with an apology that reservations were unavailable throughout the TPE network.

Maybe they managed to get these printed tpwards the end of the day so that, on some services, people with reservations would be able to ask someone in their seat to move, with the knowledge that they may have been expecting it.

On the 350's they have digital reservation identical to Pendolinos and paper card saying reserved as well. So you can check where they are reserved from on the screens.

No screens on 350s. The paper card would be redundant then

Nope, pretty sure the 350's don't have screens - that's a big 22nd Century for TPE :P
