I normally see the stock in Platform 2 at Manchester Victoria, it runs ECS from York and then runs ECS again back to York at 14:00.

The route it takes seems interesting as well running out of Leeds via Wakefield then via Brighouse and Calder Valley line into Victoria.

2> Why is there an ECS run from Glasgow-Liverpool Lime Street such as this one for example?:

It runs to Liverpool then runs ECS again back to Oxenhope Lake District at 20:13

I think the GLC-LIV LIV-OXN moves are simply there to protect the paths. I don't think they actually run, though there certainly used to be a 16:xx GLC-LIV and corresponding return to Oxenholme in The Before Times.

I assume the Calder Valley trains, which very much do run, are for route learning/retention?

Training. 3M81 was planned as a training trip and several were entered into the system for Anglo-Scottish crews but they have never run and aren't needed now. The West coast empties were class 1 passenger trains until the timetable was stripped out when the pandemic hit.
