Hi all,

Anyone know what Preston depot is like for drivers at TPE?

Route and traction card looks fairly limited compared to other depots, is this likely to ever expand?

Link structure? Earliest starts and latest finishes? Nights? Etc. Are Sundays inside and what's the RD pattern?

And other things like what's car parking like and is there still reciprocal residential travel on Northern

Thanks all

Taff

From what I understand it was a lot of Carlisle and backs at one stage - could go stir crazy just doing Preston to Carlisle and back!

Nice route yes, but only 4 stops on that one. o_O Surely they would do the other routes too, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Manchester would be great. Lots of variety there. Shame I’m not qualified:o

Glasgow, Edinburgh, Liverpool (2 ways) and Manchester (2 ways) as well as Longsight depot. Plenty of variety.

Current route card is Manchester Airport to Preston via Chorley (no longer sign Chat Moss). Preston to Liverpool Lime Street via Garswood and Earlestown. Preston to Edinburgh Waverley and Carstairs to Glasgow Central via Shieldmuir. No diversions. Longsight depot. Traction is 397 and later to add 802.

Earliest on is currently 04:15 and latest off is 01:57 in a 43 line link No nights currently and Sunday is inside the week. Plenty of staff parking available in the multi story and yes there is still residential travel on Northern.

Not a lot of work crossing the border under the current reduced timetable but quite a lot of Airport and Carlisle work and the Liverpool work is allocated to Preston which is currently 2 jobs each day.

Nice routes, it’s just the traction. Expect lots of Repetitive strain injuries driving 397’s, or anything CAF for that matter.
