Given the additional services I wouldn't expect anymore 6-cars but total capacity should increase if the 4tph service returns and works this time.
...which is Operation Princess all over again - and that repeated the cock-up decades ago when hourly l/h Liverpool-York trains were replaced by the same number of coaches but in more frequent 3-car DMUs. Hence an apparently better service, more passengers but not enough extra capacity, downgrading the customer experience and putting off (again) the people newly attracted to rail.

Never understood why the Huddersfield 'local' services, both from Manchester Piccadilly and Leeds were transferred from Northern and given for TPE to run. Seems a waste of capacity to use 185s on these services, when they could be used to double up some longer distance services. TPE South has gone back to mainly 3 car operation I've noticed. The Hull to Manchester Piccadilly services also seem to stop at an awful lot of 'shacks' along the way, between Manchester and Leeds, too.
Because of the silly way things are set up. The transfer was part of the 2016 franchise, which assumed that TRU would start in 2018 so it made sense to have all Leeds-Huddersfield operations with the one franchisee. Work didn't start but the transfer had to go ahead because that was the agreement and no-one thought to change it (or they did, but there was no way to vary the commitment).

Lack of rolling stock on Northern.
If there's a lack of rolling stock it's because the route wasn't going to return to them when they ordered their 195s.

If work has started in 2018 as originally planned it would probably be finishing about now...

Have Northern crews reatained route competency? It looks like they won't have worked Mirfield to Deighton for a while, although I guess re-learning that distance won't be too resource intensive

Am intriguing statement is on p8 where it states 'To deliver our objectives we need to be clear that there are certain current national policies which constrain some of our ability to act independently'.

Frustratingly, as far as I have been able to see so far, these polices aren't spelled out elsewhere in the document

Reasons given at the time were transferring the stoppers to TPE allowed the use of 185s, which had a higher top speed, faster accelerating so would be easier to 'mingle' amongst the expresses.

The initial service was a Manchester to Leeds through service, which combined with the Castlefield Corridor farce just meant everything was running late delaying everything else. The service was split into two separate stoppers to improve performance.

The Train Operator wants to discuss productivity with ASLEF for the driving grade, but are prevented from doing so because of a national dispute between ASLEF and the RDG/DfT. Maybe that's what it means.

Too long.

An 802/2 is around 130m in length. Two would be 260m (a 9-car 80x is 234m).

Only platforms at Liverpool long enough would be 6,9 & 10 on the 'wrong' side for Chat Moss services, and Avanti will be using one, maybe two at any one time.

Platform lengths at Manchester Victoria
3 - 254m
4 - 224m
5 - 215m
6 - 215m

So can't be accommodated.
I know this is an old thread but where did you find the platform lengths?
