TPE "peak" fares

Can TPE get away with charging full fare on 0146 York-Manchester? I thought the 'ticket day' was meant to end at 0200 therefore an Off Peak should be valid?

But TPE are charging for an Anytime on this service!

I checked the NXEC site and that shows Anytime as being the required ticket.

This can't be right, surely?

TPE have a ridiculous idea of "peak", especially as the return portion of the Off Peak ticket can be used at.... any time!

My opinion is that for early services such as this tickets dated the previous day, including off-peak tickets, are valid. But these tickets cannot be purchased after 2359.

Exactly, a ticket dated for that day would have the restrictions for that day (i.e. not before 0930hrs), but a ticket dated for the previous day can have validity into the morning hours (i.e. until 0200hrs). I haven't used a Fastis at that time in the morning so can't say for definate, but as far as I am aware ticket machines these days can't issue tickets for the previous day.

And in fact with the TPE "overnight services" there is a specific easement in the FRPP extending the validity of Day Returns into the next morning.
