@BPL95 When I spoke to TPE I was told the job was advertised until the 22nd December. Maybe they had a limit on how many applicants they would accept then the job vacancy would be closed.

Hi Nick82. My assessment canter and interview were both carried out at Newcastle. TPE have a place oposite central station, not sure if this is the same for every station.

Hi Skoda man, I got a phone call yesterday from TPE saying I don't have worry about the new application as I am already being considered. Just a waiting game at the minute.

I applied for the York Trainee position and had an invite to interview in the middle of January yesterday.

applied the day it came up (same day as the Newcastle one which i missed as was at work), was surprised to get it... first time i've managed to get through the online tests.

So you only applied last week? That’s really quick compared to the Newcastle position we applied for last time around.

last time i applied it took about 2 months to get a rejection email! I was surprised to get one saying "It's Good News"

I just wanted to update this thread just incase anyone else in the future is reading it looking for reassurances on the talent pool with TPE.

Around 3 weeks ago I was contacted by TPE and they offered me a position as a trainee conductor, I accepted the position and had my medical a week later. I passed my medical and received the contract on Friday, I start on the 5th of March.

Thank you to all those that responded and offered advice, this forum has been a great help. Looking forward to starting my training now.

Thank you, ah so your friend get a position also? We will probably be training together in Huddersfield.

Requests 2 references one must be your previous employer but I think the other could be a personal reference

agh right, i might be able to help my pal out then. he is away atm but said he has he doesnt want to use his old em to sort his references etc when he gets back, but employer which was a factory which he dropped at the last min without giving notice to work on the railway where he is now. so a personal/character reference i might be able to assist him with thn.

hew did mention something about hudds on 5 march but i dont think he would be stopping over as leeds is not that far away

I've been self-employed since I started working so I will be putting two personal references down, it does state that they can't be friends or family though.

Yeah he won't be stopping over if he lives in Leeds, I live 35 minutes from the Newcastle station and I will be travel to Huddersfield everyday and back.
