I have noticed the 55 club promo is back again. I have tried to book on line for Sheffield to York on 6 Apl' going after 9.30 and returning after 18.00 as per the restrictions but don't get the promo fare. I think it should only be £5 return as both destinations are in one zone or have I misunderstood the rules. Are there some restrictions on which routes are available? Out of curiosity I tried Leeds to York for the same date and time and the fare came up at £5. Any help will be appreciated

Sheffield to York isn't a TPE route
Presumably there's nothing to stop you doing it as two journeys? I realise that'll be a tenner, but still not a bad fare.
you can book it on the eastcoast site, for £25.

Our staff briefing advised us that there may be some errors when trying to book these fares for these sort of journeys. The Club 55 fares are available for all TPE journeys, even if not on a direct route.
For example Sheffield to York Club 55 is £15 in standard and £22.50 in First - but you would have to go via Manchester. You may therefore be better getting a £16.30 Cheap Day Return valid on the more direct route - and of course that doesn't have the evening peak restriction.
Some fares are good for those that like a long ride out - Newcastle to Edinburgh is £30 standard and £45 first!
The error with some booking systems is apparently due to the way that system interprets the Routeing Guide. Because it deems going via Manchester as not a permitted route, it doesn't offer the fare. If you have that problem just try and buy at a station or from the Guard - they are all on our Avantix machines.
