This morning I travelled first class on a 350 from Preston to Manchester Piccadilly but OMG the seats in first class are awful they are that far back and slanted its like being on a sunbed !! There was no obvious solution to pull it forward even the trolley guy said there isn't

Anybody else travelled first class on a TPE 350? What's your take on them?

Same seats as the 185s, I like them. If LM had them instead of the 2+2 ones they'd get a lot more money off me.

There is a recline adjust button, I think it's on the seat frame though I forget which side. Like most railway seats the base moves, not the back.

If you take a look at the attached picture showing the first class seating the seatback recline angle / seatbase position is adjusted with the control that is visible on the leftside (if seated) of the seat frame, also the same on the 185 and 444s.

Whats the difference between a 350/1 or a 350/3 and these trains anyway . I don't know about the 4's , because Ive never been on them , but I've been on plenty of 350/1 , 350/2 and 350/3

They are not the same seats as the 185, which I find rather hard. The ones in the 350 are much nicer.

/1 - the originals - blue seats, 2+2 in both classes, small amount of wasted space to a guard's compartment that on LM is disused (it's SWT spec where they do use them)
/2 - second lot - green seats, 3+2 in Standard, 2+2 in first, no guard's compartment. Different layout to /1 with more facing seats and fewer airline style (all "3" seats are arranged in facing groups of 6 with quite generous spacing and are window aligned)
/3 - third lot - green seats, 2+2 in both classes, power sockets at tables, slightly more tables than /1s otherwise very similar
/4 - TPE spec - similar to /3 but additional luggage capacity at the expense of seating, and one additional small bog making a total of 1 accessible, 2 small, also 2+1 in 1st.

/1 and /3 are 110mph, /2 are 100mph, I forget about /4.

Don't forget the /4 also has a catering bar and has speed set which the others don't have.

Houses trolley and cupboards for spare food and I think it has hobs to heat the water as well.

When they were new it was said the guards refused to use them because existing agreements had them working from the back cab.

No hobs or hotplates, the trolleys used now have the ability to heat the water when plugged in.

Yes it's where the trolleys are kept but they also use it as a fixed serving point if the trolley can't go through the train.

I'm on a 350/3 at the mo, and I noticed the cab seat is blue/grey (as on the /1s).
How odd to leave the crew seats like that, while all the passenger ones are in LM branding.
I don't know if the same applies to TPE's 350/4s.

It does, and seems very odd indeed!

The guard's office was possibly also due to the fact that the 350/1s were due to go to SWT initially; SWT do make use of said office on their 450s.
