TPE have launched a one pound ticket sale, Last night I booked tickets for Glasgow and Liverpool for a pound each way. I am sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section.

These trains are always packed out, so I don't get why they do this. Just means more people will be forced to stand.

LNR did the same thing last summer (and Northern in the autumn). These TOC's spend half their time apologising to customers for overcrowded trains anyway.

Ok, that's good, so they've sorted out acceptance now then? I'm not bothered about the £1 tickets because I'm travelling with work, but one of the reasons I avoid Transpennine between Edinburgh and Newcastle is the risk of having to fork out again to LNER if TPE cancel.

You would Likely have to wait for the next TransPennine Express service if you did not want to buy a new ticket but I assume that the £1 tickets are no different to regular advanced tickets if the last TPE service of the day was cancelled then your ticket would still be accepted on other services or alternative transport would need to be arranged?

In the event of a TPE train being cancelled you may travel on the next TPE service.

Condition 28.2 of the National Rail Conditions of Travel is also relevant:

I think that I'll stick with LNER. Aside from the £1 tickets, the TPE fares between Edinburgh and Newcastle aren't especially competitive and I can't afford to be held up waiting for the next train when the LNER service is so frequent.

Nope. I paid £1 Manchester to Glasgow Saturday just gone - train terminated at Preston due to no forward driver - Avanti let us on the one half an hour later with acceptance. That ended up being nearly 15 late into Glasgow, net delay 36 mins and 50p back! A Pendo ride for free, in a way!

TPE is over the worst of it and this is a promotional campaign to try and rebuild goodwill. Naturally the tickets were only available on quieter services.

Not as frequent as it was, the last train from Edinburgh is now TPE.

I suppose you could argue that, as there were only about a dozen people standing in the coach as I sat in my £1 seat from Manchester to Sheffield, the train was quieter than normal.

Well that's probably because I have registered my e-mail and have been a customer for years. Anyone who has signed in to the TPE website will receive a code enabling them to access cheap tickets, I am sorry that I didn't make that clear.

Two, as in an outward and return journey for £1 each way. I tried to be clever and use the "book another journey" button to book tickets for two further days out but when I came to pay I got a red message saying "you have exceeded the number of journeys for this code" or similar and it would only let me proceed when I deleted the two other days out.
