Special engineering timetables taking place atm and I’ve spied a TPExpress leaving MAN at 05:00, calling at Preston 34mins later, Lancaster 51mins later and making it to Oxenholme for 06:04. Is this the fastest journey ever seen between these stations?? I’ve def never known MAN to LAN done in 51mins, nor OXN in 1h04! Incidentally, the service is now cancelled due to no driver… Alas, I won’t be able to see if it keeps to time

This train seems reasonably timed, with the various station to station runs, being normal timings, so would expect if it had run, that it would have kept time, the thing which seems to make the couple mins difference, is missing out Oxford Road, and shorter Preston stop, than tomorrow, where its given 67 mins, due to longer Preston stop of 6 mins.

Hmmm ok, I was just used to seeing MAN-LAN taking an hour. Even without an Oxford Road and Bolton stop, 51mins seemed fast to me

The same timings as the regular Saturday 05.00 MAN - GLC (which does not call Oxford Road). SX this is normally at 04.57 presumably for pathing reasons which don't apply on this BH.
To take another example, from Piccadilly 08.27 SX to Edinburgh is Preston 09.02, Lancaster 09.19 (52 mins but including Oxford Road stop and 1 minute pathing allowance Ox Rd to Deansgate) Oxenholme 09.33 - these are Public times, WTT marginally different so the cancelled 05.00 is actually pretty run of the mill.
In class 185 days Manchester to Lancaster was typically around an hour, and likewise when the 350s took the longer route via Chat Moss and Wigan.
The improved journey time shows the benefits of electrifying via Bolton with increased line speeds.
