TP Class 68s seen passing through Stockport (17/05)

I saw 2x 68s of TP on Stockport viaduct around 1010-15 both following each other has anyone got what pair they were and the 2 TP sets involved. Real-time trains doesn't show either thank you Paul

One was running Gascoigne Wood - Longsight via Crewe Gresty Lane, other was running Longsight - Crewe sidings. Hopefully those in the know may be able to shed a bit more light on what they were for. At a guess though Gascoigne Wood - Longsight cycling through for maintenance, and Longsight - Crewe going back to sit out the way whilst they are not running very many sets.

The one running from Gascoigne Wood to Longsight via Crewe was 68021 with set 12. Seen on it's return sat in Stockport at approx 1230 awaiting time. (5Z88)

Anyone know what they are actually doing? It was mentioned some time ago they are spending much of each day on long distance empty stocks incurring huge fuel bills. I'd understand occasional training runs, but this has been going on for three years now. Nothing seemed to be happening with the one that went to Gresty Lane.
