Does anyone know why Tornado was aparently barely working and behind a 67 today passing through Woking half an hour late on the Cathedrals Express to Weymouth? Did it break down in Victoria meaning the diesel was needed to lead?

Seen passing Pirbright Junc earlier. Failure, or is it related to the problems up at Surbiton due a a vehicle hitting a bridge and the subsequnt delays?

Looks like they moved the water stop from Winchfield to Woking which is why it spent 30 mins in Woking. It ran normal route from Clapham but there's no report from Victoria so maybe there was a problem there. The 67 was certainly providing all the power pulling away from Woking so maybe the fault on Tornado was at Woking. Didn't see if the 67 was moved to the front at Woking or if it arrived at the front.

Diesel was on the front at Eastleigh, but by the time it passed through the New Forest Tornado was on its own. I believe the situation was linked to the change of water stop from Winchfield to Woking.

I now understand the diesel came off at Eastleigh, as there was no fireman for the steam loco available before Eastleigh! It arrived late in Weymouth and left 45 minutes late light to Yeovil.
