Aye up all,
at approx 20.43 tornado made her way over the King Edward bridge into Newcastle Central. She gave quite a few blasts of the whistle whilst slowly travelling into the station ;)
I was unable to get there to see her pull in as I'm awaiting an engineer to fix my lack of hot water :(
She then was heard bang on time leaving......

Here she is! TBH I'm finding steam far more interesting these days.

Yep, pulled into Newcastle with hundreds of people (prob 2,000 or more!) lining the platforms and bridge to watch. The arrival was coasting so not much steam noise other than the whistle.

What amused me were the loco's LED lights - the white lamp being designed into a traditional style of oil burning hand-lamp with a handle - tho emitting a VERY bright LED beam. But when the remote switch was flicked into reverse then that "old" hand lamp went out and 2 reds illuminated simultaneously in the buffer bar. (All quite unlike the procedures in the old steam days when somone would have to get onto the track to change the lamps)!

Glad NE sponsored the run too - the station staff were pretty accommodating (tho the announcer repeated the message that flash is not permitted several times, which was fair enough as there were several other movements thru the station, including the GC set trying to get thru for its overnight stay!). Last time there were so many people on the concourse, there were several safety briefings beforehand!

Was quite an "event" with so many people turning out in the cold and dark just to see a loco.

You just contradicted yourself there :|
34070 is not a brand new loco, it's only a freshly restored loco.
A brand new loco is one which has only recently been/not yet been completed and has never ran before/only ran a few times on recent dates.
34070 has operated under BR and thus is not brand new.

At first, I never liked that livery, but now I think it looks lovely. Also, sounds like it has got a decent sounding chime whistle, probably Scotsmans old one.

It's in undercoat. It'll look even better when it goes into lined green.

To be fair, he doesn't exactly have to...
No but I think it's just a matter of courtesy...
I used get people putting links to some of my YouTube videos on their web sites, so I now check the box which is supposed to stop that, but if someone takes the trouble to ask then I invariable agree...

Well if its a link instead of an embedded link then the person will see its from you and then look at your other videos...etc. I agree its nice to be credited but at least Metroland wasn't claiming the video was his. :)
