5029 Nunney Castle substituted by Class 47 diesel, word I am hearing is that this was due to the hot weather and associated fire risk.

If this is correct not sure the time length of such restrictions and what other trains will be affected.

Perhaps someone "in the know" can clarify?

There is a steam ban in force in the GW zone due to the Fire Risk.

This is expected to last until at least next week or until there is a decent amount of rain.

From what I can gather they had a fire somewhere on thursday so I think that may have something to do with it.

Tangmere caused a lineside fire in the Network Rail Western Region last week while operating the Exeter - Poole railtour. Also the West Somerset Railway have had 3 lineside fires (Thursday, Saturday and today).
