As I mentioned in another thread, I had an idea for a top gear style show. My idea is for a race to the north style event where one group goes down the E.C.M.L. and the other goes down the W.C.M.L. Any other ideas?

A Southern Region one!

I would do a one where a Class 411 CEP would race against a Class 395 'Javelin', like a challenge where old service against the new service, and I would be proud to be on the Class 411 CEP and travel in true style instead of any modern Hitachi crap!

You could try something like Scunthorpe - Manchester Airport. 1 Group goes via car, the other via TPE (just hope you don't get a 170 though, as you will lose then ).

Depending on traffic, I can get to Manchester in just over 90 minutes, which comfortably beats the TPE service, so the 1 rule imposed for the group in the car would be: Can not use the M62.

Top Regulator... I can really imagine that taking off.

I think something like Fast Track would be more appropriate (although there is already a BBC programme with that name).

I'd watch something where you do a journey, say London - edinburgh by car, coach and train. That way you might attract more of the general public to watch it

Or, to use a hypothetical nonsense created by simulators for most locos, and genuine to DMU traction you could call it 'Notch 7'

I'd consider a 'Get out of London' challenge on a Friday evening rush hour. Both parties start in central London at about 18:00. Both have to make it to some isolated village in Hampshire (will have to think of one) by a certain time, one party traveling by car and the other party by public transport.

Should be bloody stressful!

Actually they've done that on top gear if your lucky Dave will rerun it.;)

Let's hope that the CEP doesn't try too hard and asplodes.;)

Ha ha, I'd be on that - make it a BEP so I could sit in the buffet car with a beer:)
