If what you hear is true, any proceeds are going to charity so he won't get a penny (not that he needs it) - he's probably hoping to make money on a film deal 
I am also guessing there is a lot of spin and exaggeration in the book, wouldn't be as exciting if there wasn't

Totally.
Im sure the book will be a very interesting read, but theres no way I would let Blair have any of my money (he stole enough of my money when he was in office!)
Maybe wait a few years until its on amazon for a penny.....

The fact that the money from the book is going to the Royal British Legion accounts for an upsurge in orders and sales since the announcement of it. I may give it a glance if my local library gets a copy, but like I said, I think I'll just give the money directly to the RBL. I just love the warm reception he got in Dublin!

Tony Blair's statement that he'll give some of the proceeds from the publication of his memoirs amounts to little more than blood money. Under the wise leadership of His Tonyness, the British Army has been corralled into taking part in Uncle Sams wars while being starved of funds. Fair enough, Britain's defence budget is now the highest in the EU, but it's still disgusting that the MOD spent £200 million on refurbishing its headquarters while the army's been forced to do more on less money.

The only book I've got from any Politician is Dreams from my Father by Barack Obama and I've yet to read it.

I see he is thinking of pulling out of a signing session in London, saying "We don't really need to do these things". I see his appreciation of the mere mortals who make up the public hasn't changed. And, as for the idea that he doesn't want to cause the police "hassle" (ah, the perfect use of language), it was quite available for the police to stop the signing if they thought they couldn't cope. I suspect poor Tony doesn't like the idea of being shouted at.
Perhaps he doesn't like being reminded that he had a golden opportunity to improve this country, and threw it all away by getting involved in the crusades of evangalistic America.
I would think that being shouted at, and having things thrown at him, really underlines how unpopular he is now, largely due to his ill advised decisions on taking us into illegal wars!

I'll buy it eventually. I still like him and at the time I didn't think he should've stepped down, though clearly in hindsight he left at exactly the right time.
I've read the Alistair Campbell's diaries (the extracts forming his first book), but I would like to get Blair's take on the same stories.

I wouldn't p155 on him if he was on fire nor that ill-formed letter box wife.
There was a nice bit I saw this week (Times? Private Eye?) with a photo of a copy of Hitler's "Mein Kampf" sold during WW2, saying that all proceeds from the sale would go to the Red Cross. There's a precedent for everything!

It started before Thatcher don't forget the economy went to hell in the 70s what with the UK having to to take a bail out from the IMF, the 3 day week and winter of discontent and all.

I'm not that old, only going with my life time experience.
Jim callaghan (the Labour government before the one we've just got rid of) wrecked the economy and we were left ruled by big union bosses. The country was broke and nothing worked. We were going down the toilet and dissapearing around the 'U' bend.
Thatcher knocked heads together, cleaned up labour's mess, and put UK back on its feet. We went from laughing stock to a major force in Europe. Of course, Thatch did some bad stuff as well (moneterism - squandering North Sea Oil revenues on 'markets' instead of investing in the country's infrastructure).
Then we got Blair. Then Brown. Between them, they not only left the country financially in the worst state it's been in since WW2, they also left us involved in an illegal war supporting evangelistic USA, and vastly reduced our civil rights.
If you didn't know about Sunny Jim Calalghan, his mess, and the tory cleaning up of it, you should read about it. It might prevent those who don't remember such things from voting labour in again, to wreck the economy again.
Blair is donating his royalties on his book out of guilt, but also because he knows lots of people will be taken in by that and think it's OK to buy it 'as the proceeds go to a good cause'. He is a calculating selfish barstard and is giving nowt away. He will make a nice tax loss on the book to offset against other earnings, and of course there's the film rights.
I can'r beleive why anyone would want to read about such a tainted and nasty man, let alone watch the film which is no doubt on the way.
Anyone read read 'ghost'? If not, you should.
