Tonbridge to Reigate

What used to be the Tonbridge to Redhill Southern service now reverses and runs through to Reigate, for example:

However as it has a long wait at Redhill it's quicker to change onto the GWR service which arrives earlier at Reigate. Has this been changed for operational reasons?

It is because a Tonbridge to Reigate service was in place whilst Victoria was closed over Christmas and the timetable has been 'rolled over' due to low staff availability.

Reigate to Victoria trains resume on 21 February at which point Tonbridge services once again terminate at Redhill.

The fact that there is a wait at Redhill in the eastbound direction would appear to be down to matching up the timing of the existing Tonbridge to Redhill services and a suitable slot to get to Reigate and reverse.

Tonbridge-Redhill services being extended to Reigate also happens on those dates that Victoria-Reigate services don't run due to weekend engineering work.

There's also a crew change at Redhill as the SE drivers that do the work don't sign Reigate.

Indeed, but it has become absolutely pointless since GWR put their trains on the opposite side of the hour. It is just a waste of resource for Southern to have the separate crews to operate round to Reigate in the current schedules.
