Wow! Long time since I've done a trip report even though I've done lots inbetween September and April - there's too many to 'report'. These past few months I've focused a lot on sightings, and I've finally got the confidence to start to take photos of trains a bit more publicly. Living in Manchester now means I'm much closer to Carlisle, so I've been going to watch steam trains every other weekend too! Anyway, I'll start my trip reports again with my current rover I'm doing: Coast and Peaks 4-in-8:

Saturday 30th March 2019 - Day One:

We start off the day with the 07:39 to Liverpool Lime Street and the 08:47 from Lime Street to Stafford, powered by 158799 and 390133 respectively. At Edge Hill, there's winner shed 66725 and winners 331105 and 331106, along with a dud sightage for 60056, although I've not seen it in exactly a year! Going down to Crewe, there's dud 92020 at Speke Jn., winner 08721 at Ditton and 87035 inside the Heritage Centre at Crewe.

We don't spend long at Stafford on this day, as I grab 220022 up to Stoke. I decide to go over to Derby now, with two winning, albeit cosy, dogboxes: 153308 and 153379.

Derby always pulls up something nice and it didn't fail today. New to my book are ex. GWR 153372, along with 73962 and 73964 hauling a rake of banana carriages to Hither Green, followed by 153302, 170103, 222020 and 221102. Speaking of 153302, I board it along with dud 153368 down to Matlock Bath to get some naff shots of Peak Rail:

Onto the buses now, as I thought I'd try out Stagecoach's new Gold E400MMc's on their X17 to Sheffield. They're incredibly comfy and great up the hills, but admittedly a bit sluggish on the dual carriageways to Norton. After that, I thought I'd try out a new bus route in Sheffield - the 208 to Dinnington. This peaked my interest as it ran through Whiston which is where I lived for 18 years, and mostly followed the old 23/a/b/c from Whiston to Dinnington which I had fond memories of.

After that, it's back to the trains (sort of) as winner 399206 takes me from Rotherham Central to Fitzalan Square, and duds 399207 and 185139 take me to Sheffield Station and Piccadilly respectively.

Overall not too bad of a day - gorgeous weather, and a healthy selection of winners! Parts two and three to follow tomorrow hopefully...

Good start to your rover. Certainly lots of dogboxes for you haha.
