Today started with buying a single fare to New Street and 12 tickets in my pocket already, along side not much cash!
The first catch of the day was the 09:02 Virgin Trains to Birmingham New Street, underneath it were the words many dread, SUPER VOYAGER. The board didn't lie, 221 143 turned up. 221 144 previously followed me, I went to Euston 5 times and it was there! When I heard it was being split up, I was filled with joy, no more train stalker I thought, until 350 118 took a shine to me.
Anyway! 221 143 received the multi use coach from it's stable mate. Leaving it with two buffets, and two fabulous standard coaches! So I rode in comfort to New Street, on time.
Took a slow walk to Moor Street, I was booked on the 10:55 to London Marylebone. I had breakfast at the Centenary lounge, which is a very nice place and joined my MKIIIs 20minutes early and sat in declassified first. The train was not heavily loaded and very few were in the first section so I had a very enjoyable meander to Marylebone, though the amount of onboard staff was puzzling.
Once at Marylebone I saw a photoshoot taking place with three lovely ladies! My attention was taken away by the arrival of another 67 rake which I had seen at Wembley earlier that day.
I bought my tube ticket and headed to Baker Street, making my way to Liverpool Street. The 379 was there, very nice inside and out. My next trip was aboard 90013 to Colchester, whilst a bit late it was enjoyable, good to see the interior unchanged from the WCML days! It doesn't look too shabby either.
Returned upon 90005 and had another pleasant journey, the onboard wi fi is pretty poor though, very slow and google thought I was in Sweden.
Got the tube to London Paddington, had a McDonalds and joined the 16:49(?) HST to Oxford, getting off a Slough to film them belting through. The drivers there didn't 'alf go mad on the horns!
Returned on a 166 unit, and headed for the circle line, changed at Edgware road to get to King's Cross, for some photography, walked to St Pancras and then onwards to Euston where I spent 30minutes in the first class lounge. Joined the 20:23 to Wolverhampton, 390 010, cracking service, arrived after 56 minutes back at Coventry.
